HOW TO PLAY


1. I have heard about multiplayer on 3, how do I start playing?
Follow a few simple steps:
1. Press the ‘On 3’ key
2. Select ‘Games’
3.
Select ‘Multiplayer’
4. Download ‘Badlands’ – this
will be stored with java applications on your mobile
5. Go to where applications
are stored on your phone and you should see Badlands. Select it and it will
launch the game.
NB. The date and time must be set correctly on your mobile.
You only have to download the game once.

3. I downloaded Badlands
but can’t find it?
You have downloaded a java application which will be stored with java applications
on your mobile. Java applications are generally stored in a folder called Java,
Applications or Games&Apps, depending on which mobile you are using.

4. How do I start playing
against other people?
When you start Badlands and select ‘Play’ you will see the available
games servers. Select a games server (there will be an indication of how many
people are currently playing). You will automatically be put into a game ‘room’.
Depending on how many people are playing, there could be between 0-3 other
people in the room.

5. Is there a difference
between the two Multiplayer games servers?
There are currently two Multiplayer games servers: Hades and Persephone. Hades
is intended to cater for new or less experienced players, while Persephone
is intended to cater for more experienced players. Obviously you are free to
play on either server, but you will probably find it more rewarding playing
against others with a similar level of skill.
Remember, besides joining existing games you can set up a private battle
with up to {4} friends. Refer to Private Battle for more information on how
to do this.

6. How many players can
I play against at anyone time?
At launch you will be able to have 4 players in one game. 3’s multiplayer
service will be able to cater for hundreds of games. You have the option of
less players if you prefer, by setting up a ‘Private Battle’ to
play against friends.

7. What is Private Battle?
Private Battle allows you to have private games against friends or foes. You
can access this option from the in-game menu (‘#’ key). Select
#2 ‘Private Battle’ and you will be prompted to designate and enter
a room number (room number can be up to 7 digits). Make sure your friends know
you will be there and you will be playing in your own private battle.
Important: Ensure you are all on the same game server (Hades or Persephone).

9. What is Change Battle?
Change Battle allows you to leave one game and enter another available game.
You can access this option from the in-game menu (‘#’ key).

10. What if there is no-one
in my room?
Choosing a games server will automatically put you into a room that will typically
be the first available game. Sometimes you will be the first person into the
room (the games server will give you an idea of how many people are currently
playing Badlands). After a short while you will be prompted if there is no-one
else playing. You can always try ‘Change Battle’. Alternatively,
you can always set up or join a ‘Private Battle’ if you know where
other players will be.
Note: Once you press ‘Play’ you will be charged.

11. Can I practice playing
Badlands?
To practice you can always go to a private room where no-one else is playing
and familiarise yourself with your vehicle and the controls. We’d also
recommend playing on the games server that reflects your skill level in the
game. Hades is intended to cater for new or less experienced players, while
Persephone is intended to cater for more experienced players.

12. How do I kill my opponent?
By blasting them before they blast you. There are 4 different vehicles and
each has different weapon, speed and defence attributes. Each vehicle has 4
different types of weapons that you can select from.

13. How do I change weapons?
In Badlands if you press the ‘2’ key it changes through the 4 different
weapons. You can also press the ‘7’, ‘8’, ‘*’, ‘0’ to
fire the four specific weapons at any time. Note: your weapons status bar indicates
when you have sufficient power to fire.

in-game menu?
Pressing the ‘#’ key will give you access to the in-game menu

15. How do I check my
status during a game?
Pressing the ‘9’ key will give you access to the different status
indicators. Pressing it once will show your current default weapon, your weapon
energy, and the number of lives you have remaining. Pressing again will show
the scores of current players in your room. Pressing it a third time turns
it off.

16. How do I change my
player name?
Select ‘Settings’ from the main menu and then ‘Player Name’.

17. How do I turn the
sound on and off?
Select ‘Settings’ from the main menu. Select ‘Sound’ to
turn on and off. Alternatively sound can be turned on or off from the in-game
menu (‘#’ key and select sound).

18. What happens if I
receive a call while I am playing?
You can take the call for a period of time and this will ‘suspend’ your
play. A phone icon will appear around your Badlands vehicle indicating you
are on the phone and you cannot be killed. Generally, you can be suspended
for up to 1 minute before being kicked out of the game.

19. Can I receive an incoming
voice call, video call or message whilst playing?
You can receive voice calls whilst playing Badlands. You can receive messages
but you will not see them until you exit Badlands. You cannot receive a video
call whilst playing Badlands.

No. To make a voice call, video call or send a message you will need to exit
the Badlands game.

The most common cause would be that the date and time are incorrectly set on
