Before we even begin this Getting Started guide, I want to stress
a couple things about Badlands™. First and foremost, you're
going to die. Unless you have an incredible knack for figuring out
games in the first 5 minutes, things will prove to be rough. But
the good news is that everyone has gone through this. So don't be
discouraged if you're dying -- a lot.
Badlands™ is a different kind of Mobile game because you're
playing real people, and just like in the real world, some people
are more skilled than others. Upon starting out, you'll probably
run into a whole lot of people more skilled than you. But given time,
your skill will increase. The game is not overly complicated, but
it does require a grasp of the game's foundations.
This Getting Started guide will walk you through some of the more "foundational" aspects
of Badlands™, equipping you to experience the more complex
strategies of the game. For more help on playing Badlands see FAQ
section.
So once again, don't expect to jump in thinking your reign of terror
has begun on the unsuspecting masses -- you'll be quite humbled,
to say the least. We hope this Getting Started guide provides a foundation
for you to fully enjoy Badlands™. Have fun and happy hunting!
Badlands Introduction
 |
 |
The collapse came hard, when it finally came, but the signs
had been there for some time. The Federated States, once the
savior of our disparate nation, had become a totalitarian state
in its drive to eradicate civil disorder.
Breaking point was reached when vital funds to combat the
disparate food crisis were diverted into the development of
the federated states army behemoth tank series. |
Outraged at this blatant abuse of power, the populace rioted openly
and as one. The FSA was deployed wholesale against its own people.
Many of the FSA behemoths that rolled off production lines immediately
defected to the popular resistance. Numbers of FSA wraith interceptors,
gravatic stealth tanks, fell into the hands of the insurrectionists.
As Damocles assault carriers supported troops in hellish firefights,
the inevitable happened.
It is not known who triggered the weapons that caused the cataclysm.
All that is known is that the hegemony was eradicated in an instant
of heat and flame, leaving burning, glass-like sand in its wake.
Now, from the scarred earth a new conflict comes. The surviving
FSA vehicles are operated by both those who would restore order,
and those who would use their power for personal gain. As the various
tribal alliances clash and the destructive power of the FSA’s
weaponry is witnessed once more among the dunes, the time until the
next great war shortens with every shot fired.
Start
Game
When you have chosen your server and vehicle you will be put into
an active battle. On first joining you will see the scoreboard
overlaying the current game, you can watch the action for as long
as you want,
when you press fire you will be transported into a random location
on the map and can start fighting.
Weapon Upgrades
Each vehicle is capable of upgrading its weapons systems. Each
weapon can be upgraded twice until they reach their maximum level.
Weapons
are upgraded with power-ups.
Energy Bar
Energy is used when firing weapons, all weapons require different
amounts of energy to be fired. Energy always replenishes itself
back to a full charge (Yellow Bar) but if you have drained it
too much (below one third appears as RED) it will recharge at
a slower
rate. If a vehicle is not moving its energy will recharge at
the maximum rate.
Power ups
When a vehicle is destroyed it leaves behind a power-up pack
which when picked up by another player, will either upgrade
one of their
weapons, or replenish some of their health. The power-up’s
cycle through these options at a steady rate and the timing when
a power-up is picked up will determine its effect. A player can
not pick up their own power-ups. If a power-up tries to upgrade
a weapon which is already fully upgraded it will change to the
next type of power-up in the cycle and try to upgrade again.
Radar
 |
 |
Go ahead and take a stroll through the arena, being careful
to watch your radar for enemies (upper right of screen). Tanks
are represented as solid red dots. Now don't rely too heavily
on radar, since some tanks can actually cloak themselves that
enables them to hide from radar, but be mindful of any tanks
you do see.

Private Battles
| Private Battle allows you to have private games against friends
or foes. You can access this option from the in-game menu (‘#’ key).
Select #2 ‘Private Battle’ and you will be prompted
to designate and enter a room number (room number can be up to
7 digits). Make sure your friends know you will be there and
you will be playing in your own private battle. |

Game Over
When you have used up all of your lives, you will be presented
with an end game screen with the final scores. From this you
can press ‘1’ to
quit which will return you to the phone.
Scoring
Scoring is based purely on the amount of kills you receive
while playing. Your total kills and highest kills per game
are recorded
on your phone (settings menu) and based on the total kills you
receive a rank. Every 50 kills you receive a higher rank,
the ranks are as
follows:
0-50 kills: Chump
51-100 kills: Cretin
101-150 kills: Roughneck
151-200 kills: Bandit
201-250 kills: Marauder
